Your Rent Might Be Too High!!

How Has NYC's Rent-Stabilized Housing Stock Changed Since 2019?

SHOULD YOUR APARTMENT BE RENT STABILIZED??

Since the passage of the Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act of 2019 (HSTPA), it is illegal for rent-stabilized apartments to be removed from rent stabilization unless the building was subject to the 421-a tax exemption or J-51 tax abatement. Despite this, many landlords have illegally removed apartments from rent stabilization. If you see your building on this map, there's a good chance your apartment should be rent stabilized. You can take your landlord to court and maybe get some money or a re-stabilized apartment if you're lucky.
